Write down a quote or passage that appeals to you
"If there had been another female for him since we arrived in Salvation, I needed to cut off all her hair and beat her half to death. The strength of that impulsive scared me, and I took a step back. Deuce the girl was every bit as vicious as the huntress, it seemed"
Why does this quote or passage appeal to you
This quote appeals to me because it was like Deuce has two personalities, Deuce, the girl who likes to fight for her cause, the girl who doesn't like to cook, go to school, and be in partys. Than their is the huntress, the huntress that will kill anyone that wants to take what is hers. This quote also appeals to me because if I was put into her shoes, and if there was another female, that would have been his, I think the huntress in me would take over. Would it for you?

Write about a connection to another book you have read or a movie you have seen.
The Outpost in my opinion has a connection with the book Hunger games by Suzanne Collins. the two main characters are named Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark. These two characters fight together to survive a battle called Hunger games. The settings in the both novels take place in a town where they cant get out. Katniss is put into the hunger games and trying to fight for her life just like Deuce is when she is trying to fight off the freaks. The theme in both books are similar, both characters are trying to fight for there life and at the same time, trying to show there dominance. In both novels, Katniss and Deuce is not only fighting for themselves, they are both fighting to protect something or someone.
Quote
"What was the good of having such a fine home if you weren't willing to fight for it"?-Deuce
Important to the novels
This quote is important to both novels because Katniss and Deuce are not only fighting for themselves, Deuce is fighting to protect salvation and Katniss is fighting to protect her ally.
Significant to me
This quote is significant to me because if I was put into a position to fight for something I love, I would no matter what, because just like that quote says "what was the good of having such a fine home if you weren't willing to fight for it"?

Explain the problem that the main character faces
In the novel, the problems that the man character faces, Deuce is trying to fit in. Deuce is use to being an adult down blew, she is use to fighting a lot, not needing to worry about what she looked like, and she is use to everyone being the same. Now that she is in a topside community, everything changes. She hates to cook, go to school, sew (pretty much she hates everything that a "normal" girl would like to do". It doesn't help her in school when she is being called names, she is not use to going to school, learning, and doing tests.
Quote
"what's a birthday"?- Deuce
Important to the book
This quote is important to the novel because it shows how "outdated" Deuce is, she is not use to the fancy girl life like she sees in salvation.
Significant to me
This quote is significant to me because now in life, people get everything they want, whenever they want it, and some people don't appreciate what they have. Looking at this quote, it makes me think, "what if I was her"? "what if I did not know what a birthday was"

Describe an experience that someone you knew had the same experience from the book
In the novel, Deuce has an experience where there are two boys who she knows that they have her back, but she is in a moment where if she chooses one of the boys, she is scared that the other will walk away. She wishes that she could do something to where all three of them are able to unite as one. This experience that Deuce is having is the exact experience that one of my friends had. my friend was in a moment where she had two great friends who she knew would have her back, and she had theirs. But then she made a move, she ruined that bridge that was between her and other boy. If you had two great friends that would do anything for you, would you break that?. I think that that exact thing will happen to Deuce, that she will choose one boy and ruin what she had with the other. (Stalker and Fade)
Quote
"It's hard seeing you with him"- Fade
Important to the novel
This quote is important to the novel because here Fade is one of the two boys that Deuce trusts. Fade is talking about how he cant bear seeing Stalker with her.
Significant to me
This quote is significant to me because sometimes in life, you might see the person you admire with someone else, and seeing that, that person is not you, it breaks your heart

Explain how a character in the book changed or is starting to change
In this novel, Deuce starts to change, she starts to show her real self. In the starting of the novel Deuce was the girl who would just sit in the back and just watch everyone do there own thing. She was always the "outsider", Deuce is now changing, not for the bad, but for the good. She starts to show her real self when signing up for patrol in salvation when the other boys saw her at the training camp and was talking garbage about her. She was put up against one of the boys in a hand to hand battle for practise, then the boy started talking garbage about her, "why are you putting me up against this chick"? "what can she possibly do to me"? Then when the battle starts Deuce has him on the ground in less than 10 seconds. When Deuce and fade get on patrol, Deuce is not the "outsider" anymore.
Quote
"I am tired of this" " weary ignorant brats judging me like I was the strange one"- Deuce
Important to the novel
This quote is important to the novel because here Deuce is tired of being judged like she was one of the strange ones, this quote shows that Deuce is not going to just let these kids just treat her like she is not human.
Significant to me
This quite is significant to me because now a days, the kids that were getting bullied and being judged are trying to stand up for them self now, they are now not letting themselves get pushed around.

Compare/contrast two characters
In the book Outpost, the two main characters in the book are Deuce and Fade. Deuce is a girl who "down below" is an adult, but now in the town of salvation, she is a little girl who is different from the other girls, she only knows how to fight. Fade is a boy who hunter partner is Deuce, Both hunters are in town called Salvation, Deuce is trying to get use to the new town. She is now expected to be a stereotypical girl, she is expected to become one of the "normal girls". Fade at first, was keeping Deuce at a distance, his feeling have not changed for her, but he just wanted nothing to do with her at first. Deuce signs up to server in the summer patrols, to make sure that the planters have a safe area to work. Later, Deuce and Fade go to guard the fields of the community. Here, they protect salvation from attacks that come from the freaks. Freaks are monsters that are planning to leave salvation in pieces. Deuce and Fade are not the only ones that are hunters, they have, what you call, a "team".

Significant to me
This quote is significant to me because there were times that I felt that I wasn't normal, I would think to myself what could I do to really show who I am and what I am made of, and what I am actually capable of doing.

Introduction Post
Author: Ann Aguirre
I choose the book Outpost because it had a cool cover and I read a little bit of the back which said "for fans of the hunger games". So straight from that I knew that I would like the book. I have also read one book of the same author and I enjoyed it, so I knew that it would be a even greater choose, to pick this up. I have always had an interest in books about fighting, adventure, and surviving for you life.
